About the Seiko SSC947P1 Prospex Speedtimer watch:
In 1969, Seiko launched the world's first automatic chronograph equipped with a vertical clutch and column wheel, known as the Seiko Speedtimer. A piece of the first series 6139 Speedtimer rose to fame as the first automatic chronograph to travel to space: in the 1970s, NASA astronaut Colonel William Pogue carried the original chronograph on a mission to Skylab, the first American space station. The watch was nicknamed "Pogue" in honor of its wearer, a star explorer.
The SSC947P1 model is a faithful recreation of the Pogue, with curved sapphire crystal, intense yellow dial, characteristic of the original 6139 model. Second hand (center hand) and subdial minute hand at 6 o'clock are bright red.
With 12 Lumibrite points on each of the wide vintage-style indexes (readability in the dark).
In the style of the original, this piece has a blue and red aluminum bezel with a tachymeter function and a chronometer seconds scale on the inner ring of the dial. The bracelet tapers from the lugs to the buckle.
Prospex is a combination of the words "Professional" and "Specifications". Seiko Prospex watches are designed to be practical, reliable and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for both sports lovers and adventure seekers.
