Presage Sharp Edged Series is a collection that combines Seiko's mechanical haute horlogerie with a new perspective on Japanese culture. The Seiko X incorporates the 6R21 automatic multifunction caliber with power reserve, day and date indicator.
The SPB329J1 model is an homage tothe traditional Japanese art of Kabuki theater. The SPB329J1 watch has been designed in collaboration with Ebizo Ichikawa, one of Japan's most prominent and influential kabuki actors.
Kabuki theater combines music and dance in a traditional way par excellence of Japan, being exclusively male and dates back more than 400 years in its origin.
The reddish-brown khaki color of the dial is known as Kakiiro and is a traditional Japanese color first used by the Ichikawa family in their Kabuki costumes. The dial of the seiko SPB329J1 features a color gradation that provides unique sharpness and depth.
The back of his leather strap is also Kakiiro.
The Japanese hemp leaf pattern known as Asanoha and used in various spheres of Seiko's Sharp Edged collection, has been used in Kabuki costumes for centuries, as well as Japanese fabrics since the Heian period (794-1185) more than a thousand years ago.
