Change for the Better
Oris announces a new collaboration with social enterprise Bracenet, which creates accessories from repurposed ghost fishing nets, and now fantastic watch faces. Ocean plastic statistics are difficult to read. For example, scientists estimate that the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (GPBP), an island of plastic drifting between Hawaii and California, has an area equal to four and a half times the size of Germany.
To make these kaleidoscopic spheres you have to take small cuts of recycled green, blue and white nets and carefully heat them until they melt with the raw material. When they cool, they harden forming a thin sheet of material. It is then cut to the desired size, smoothed and sanded until it is 0.3 mm thick. This material does not contain additives, fillers or glues. No two spheres are the same.
About the Oris x Bracenet watch, 01 733 7770 4137-07 8 18 05P:
The Aquis collection of diving watches offers innovation, through a combination of design, high-performance materials and functions suitable for their purposes.
The Oris 01 733 7770 4137-07 8 18 05P features a kaleidoscopic sphere of small green, blue and white cutouts from collected nets. The material is melted and when it cools and hardens, it forms a thin sheet that is cut to the desired size, smoothed and sanded until it is 0.3 mm thick. This material does not contain additives, fillers or glues. No two spheres are the same.
There are two versions of the stainless steel watch, one with a 36.50 mm case (01 733 7770 4137-07 8 18 05P) and another with a 43.50 mm case. Both feature self-winding mechanical movements and unidirectional rotating bezels, and are water resistant to 30 bar (300 metres).

About Oris:
Since 1904 Oris watches represent the excellent quality of Swiss Made thanks to the higest levels of their manufacturing and control.
Paul Cattin and Georges Christian found Oris in the Swiss city of Hölstein (June 1, 1904).
The company opens an assembly plant and a second factory in the nearby town of Holderbank (1906).
Oris's success allowed several factories to open in different cities, until 1929. After the death of Georges Christian, Oscar Herzog (his brother-in-law), became CEO. Oris will open its own dial factory in Biel/Bienne, where it produces its own escapements.
In 1938, Oris produced its first pilot's watch with a Pointer Calendar function, the Big Crown.
Since 1945, Oris has received more than 200 precision awards. In 1952, it launched its first automatic watch with a high-precision power reserve indicator (Caliber 601). In 1966 he introduced his advances; in 1970 Oris integrated the ASUAG group, and in 1982 Portmann and Herzog headed the management acquisition and constituted Oris SA, an independent and free company.
Oris abandons quartz and exclusively produces mechanical watches. In the 90s, it coined its motto “High Mech” (High Mechanics): quality and integrity of its mechanical movements made in Switzerland that in 2002 they will reflect with the Red Rotor as a registered Oris trademark.
Its calibres, designs and advances are perfected to this day: Caliber 400, 403, 473 or 115 at the highest level, with five-day power reserves and a 10-year guarantee. Oris continues to develop in this way in each of multiple collections
