About Tissot T149.459.21.051.00 PR516 Chronograph mechanical watch:
The new TISSOT PR516 Chronograph T149.417.11.051.00 is a Swiss chronograph with a sporty personality and a retro spirit. From the T-Sport Collection of Tissot.
The Tissot T149.459.21.051.00 draws inspiration from the Heritage series (the 1973 chronograph, the 1938 Heritage COSC, the Visodate or the 1938 Telemeter) in a contemporary tribute to its vintage aesthetics with modern technology. From the iconic PR516 series that gained popularity in the 60s, Tissot presents a range of new models. Among them is the T149.459.21.051.00 manually wound chronograph.
The PR516 model line dates back to 1956, the "PR" (Particularulièrement Robustes: particularly robust). In 1965, the collection underwent a notable transformation with the distinctive steel bracelet adorned with prominent perforations, evoking the energetic essence of a racing wheel.
Tissot's affiliation with motorsport had already begun in 1958, with Swiss driver Harry Zweifel who was immortalized with his Tissot in a signed photograph behind the wheel of his sports car and the message: “My Tissot is by my side in every career. "Thus, the PR516 will be the watch par excellence for runners.
Also the Peruvian rally driver Henry Bradley for his Tissot PR516, who proudly adorned the name of his Tissot PR516 on his Ferrari.
The Tissot PR516 also appears in film history: James Bond in “Live and Let Die”, by Roger Moore.
As time went on, the PR516 went through stainless steel or gold cases, variety of functions with date, day/date, manual winding chronograph. It is precisely this PR516 manual winding chronograph that serves as inspiration for the new model T149.459.21.051.00.
The new Tissot PR516 comes to us with a conical stainless steel case, a design aesthetic in sports watches from the 1970s. It is 13.67 mm thick as it is a mechanical chrono but is surprisingly comfortable thanks to its short lugs.
The pushers and crown maintain a design similar to the original. Bezel with tachymeter and heart rate scales printed with luminous markings that guarantee legibility as well as on the hour markers and hands.
The 30-minute chronograph counter is located at 3 o'clock, the 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, and the seconds hand at 9 o'clock.
The first 5-minute sector on the 30-minute counter is painted blue, a nod to the 1970s design intended to highlight the 5 minutes before the car (or yacht) races begin.
The chronograph hands are painted in a vibrant orange hue for distinction. The narrow tip on the minute hand is just like the original.
The modern touch is the logo that includes the mention of 1853, a reminder of the brand's long history.
Manually wound Valjoux A05.291 movement, which gives the watch an impressive improved autonomy of 68 hours.
To protect the movement against magnetic fields, the Nivachron and shock resistance is ensured by incorporating an optimized system, the Nivachoc
