Oris automatic movement, multi-piece stainless steel case (40 m/m), domed sapphire crystal both sides with inner anti-reflective coating, indexes and silver hands, blue guilloche dial, screwed steel bottom with sapphire glass to see the movement through, waterproof up to 50 meters (5 BAR), stainless steel bracelet with folding clasp.
Since 1904 Oris watches represent the excellent quality of Swiss Made thanks to the higest levels of their manufacturing and control.
Paul Cattin and Georges Christian found Oris in the Swiss city of Hölstein (June 1, 1904).
The company opens an assembly plant and a second factory in the nearby town of Holderbank (1906).
Oris's success allowed several factories to open in different cities, until 1929. After the death of Georges Christian, Oscar Herzog (his brother-in-law), became CEO. Oris will open its own dial factory in Biel/Bienne, where it produces its own escapements.
In 1938, Oris produced its first pilot's watch with a Pointer Calendar function, the Big Crown.
Since 1945, Oris has received more than 200 precision awards. In 1952, it launched its first automatic watch with a high-precision power reserve indicator (Caliber 601). In 1966 he introduced his advances; in 1970 Oris integrated the ASUAG group, and in 1982 Portmann and Herzog headed the management acquisition and constituted Oris SA, an independent and free company.
Oris abandons quartz and exclusively produces mechanical watches. In the 90s, it coined its motto “High Mech” (High Mechanics): quality and integrity of its mechanical movements made in Switzerland that in 2002 they will reflect with the Red Rotor as a registered Oris trademark.
Its calibres, designs and advances are perfected to this day: Caliber 400, 403, 473 or 115 at the highest level, with five-day power reserves and a 10-year guarantee. Oris continues to develop in this way in each of multiple collections.
